apanthropy

Beyond the Treeline is a monthly series maintained by Apanthropy.org editor Andrew Krause, in which the underground extreme music scene is examined and curated.

Volume III went okay. Most of the technical issues have been sorted out and the whole process no longer feels like I’m randomly jerking off with a room full of strangers watching me. Skill points have been invested in both mumbling and mispronounced band name disciplines.

For Volume III, we have 17 bands representing 8 different countries. A lot of black metal of the Finnish and French varieties. Yes, there are exploding children as well.

Assuming you’ve been to the Apanthropy YouTube channel, or perhaps watched Beyond the Treeline, you’ll know these particular posts are supplemental to our monthly series. Here, we post all the social media and merch links for the bands we’ve chosen to focus on. There are also some embedded tracks if you’re interested in checking out a band or record a bit more closely.

As you know, we break each episode down by the following categories:

Underground Discoveries
Debut Albums
Demos
The Underground Discovery of the Month
The Demo of the Month
The Essential Reissue of the Month

Here is Beyond the Treeline – Vol III, September 2026:
