The main source of traffic for Apanthropy was coming from its single social media account on the Facebook platform. That account has been terminated and removed. I have also pulled and shut down my single social media account, also on the Facebook platform.

I will always support free speech. As the major social media systems continue to tighten their standards on what is too offensive for you to handle, more and more bands, labels, musicians, performers, artists, producers, and the like are simply erased from the population of these platforms.

This isn’t to attack what a private company does with its product, or to lean towards asking for government intervention or any such idea, this has to do with how egocentric and terrified of a society we’ve become.

What weird transformations have spawned from that 2016 election?

Bands I’ve watched perform 20 minutes from my house in the summer of 2015 – Nyogthaeblisz, Satanic Warmaster – and the summer of 2016 – Grand Belial’s Key – are now cyberstalked in weird campaigns and having their shows shutdown by people that claim to be offended by the band’s imagery, ideas, lyrics, or presentation. Some of these bands are enjoying the 10th, 15th, even 20th anniversaries of their inceptions…largely ignored for decades…Amazing what happens in 24 short months.

I enjoyed those shows immensely, by the way.

I don’t believe in censorship. I don’t believe in watching movies on my phone. I don’t believe in tearing down statues or paying $7 for a cup of coffee. Get real.

Crying about music is the same as crying about movies like Salo, Green Elephant, Serbian Film, or even something like American History X; you think you’re a victim of some emotional thoughtcrime because you had to feel something “unfortunate” for a moment. Something immaterial. Something subjective. You leave thinking you’ve been victimized without understanding that you’ve voluntarily choose to confront it and you simply weren’t strong enough to handle the data presented to your brain. In a real, as-literal sense. Close your eyes. Turn the volume down. Stop needing a nanny so much. I ate an exotic bird in a foreign country once.
